Do not 'cut corners' on your main system units such as your motherboard, processor, memory and hard drive.

You would not want to be running out of memory or disk space shortly after purchasing a complete computer system or building your own!

Delay the buying of some of the software applications that are not critical for you to get now until at a later date. You might want to be using this computer for a few years; therefore, you should ensure that it has future upgradability by purchasing the proper motherboard.

Your Operating System Software

A computer must have an operating system (OS) installed since it enables the computer to perform its tasks. A computer is useless without an operating system.

Computers are usually sold with an OS pre-loaded; the most popular of which is the Microsoft Windows family. There are other operating systems such as Mac OS X and various distributions of Linux.
