Build Your Own Cheap Computer
Guide to Partition-Format Hard Drive/SSD

Step 16: Partition-Format Hard Drive/SSD

Partition-Format Hard Drive Instructions

After you build your own cheap computer, you can partition and format the hard drive to install the operating system. Partitioning is only necessary if you intend to install multiple operating systems.

For this tutorial, we will use the hard drive as one complete drive since we will only be installing one operating system.

The above information also applies to an SSD (Solid State Drive) with one exception. Never defrag an SSD.

There are other operating systems available today but we will be installing the Microsoft Windows operating system in Step 17 of this tutorial.
