The Mac Computer Review
The Mac Computer ...... The Ultimate Computer!
Have you all noticed how those once patriotic PCers are now moving to the Mac made by this "uncompromising" company Apple Inc.?
Originally named Macintosh, this superb computer gained the prestigious name Mac and, for the remainder of this review, it will be referred to as the Mac.
Could be people have gotten tired of those plain old beige boxes or having to spend too much time "fighting" spyware, viruses, worms and all those other "nasties"?
Well I guess it's the right time to change to the Mac which uses the Mac OS X software described as the greatest operating system ever developed.
It's great, easily understood and almost virus-free as compared to the Windows PC!
This family of computers is available in 6 designs each using dual core Intel processors:
- The Mac mini is an extremely small low-end desktop and comes minus a monitor, keyboard or mouse. It uses Core 2 Duo processors.
- The MacBook, which is equivalent to the Windows PC laptop, comes with white or black finish. It is the company's main consumer portable and ships with Intel Core 2 Duo processors.
- The MacBook Pro is the high-end consumer workstation available in two widescreen sizes and faster Core 2 Duo processors than its sibling (MacBook).
- The white all-in-one, known as the iMac, is Apple's present flagship desktop computer, available in 20-inch and 24-inch widescreens. It includes built-in wireless, Mac OS X and the new iLife ’08.
- The all powerful high-end MacPro. This unit has a silvery coating. Right now it is available with Intel dual and quad-core processors. An 8-core machine is in the making.
- Xserve - This is a enterprise-grade rack-mounted server machine powered by Intel Xeon processors.
At first sight, one would ask: "Where's the computer? This is only a monitor!" Then, to their surprise, that's the complete iMac computer.... A pleasant looking all-in-one!
The all-new, all-in-one iMac available in 20-inch and 24-inch widescreen models
Modern Mac computers are now using the fast and famous Intel Core 2 Duo processors. These "hot" processors not only enable speed, but allows the Mac to run Windows XP and XP related programs.
As you all can see, the Mac is a completely different "beast" that uses a different operating system.
All current Mac computers come pre-installed with the latest Mac OS X code named "Leopard".
When it comes to their mission and ideals, Mac and Microsoft are diametrically opposed.
After purchasing your Mac, moving all your "stuff" from your Windows PC to your Mac will be challenging but well worth it!
You will also need to acquire a set of Mac programs that do what you did on Windows. Finding Mac equivalents for your Windows programs can be daunting and will require some form of research.
Wrapping up this short review ....... all you Mac "converts" ..... get ready to learn the Mac OS X operating system!
